WINDOW PARTS PRIMER FOR THE NOVICE

AWNING TYPE WINDOW - Provides full ventilation. Vents crank out with a right or left hand operator. Vents close tight by use of a camlock and pin system. The torque bar runs along the bottom and is usually made of steel which rusts over time. The vertical hardware is called a harness to which everything is attached. We sell only best quality new awning type windows which are thoroughly weather-stripped, lock securely and the torque bar is aluminum and not steel. We provide quality installation of replacement windows and service on most locally manufactured brands.  We stock a full selection of parts for the most common awning window manufacturers and obsolete parts can sometimes be ordered from our many wholesale distributors if we have a sample to send them.    JALOUSIE WINDOW - Old 50's style windows gradually being phased out due to their lack of energy efficiency. We stock numerous styles of jalousie operators, clips and glass in obscure and clear. Jalousie glass can be 3" 4" 4-1/2" and 5" deep by any length.

SINGLEHUNG - The top sash is fixed and the bottom sash raises up for ventilation with a half screen. Many of our new singlehung windows have bottom sashes that tilt in for easy cleaning from the inside. The sashes stay up because of a balance rod system. Some are square with a rope and pulley and others are circular, either 3/8" or 5/8" round with a spiral spring inside. All singlehungs have top guides and sometimes face guides with locks at the top or bottom of the vent. Our service vans carry the most often used balance rods in the most frequently used lengths and poundage. Our well- trained service technicians are able to repair most windows and new screens are fabricated in our shop.              DOUBLEHUNG - The term doublehung means that both sashes move. There is a full screen but ventilation is still only available from half the opening. There are four balance rods rather than two. Beautiful double hungs from Kolbe & Kolbe Millwork are available in any size and a range of designer colors and wood from Ponderosa pine to imported mahogany. Today's casements are beautiful and energy-efficient. We service most kinds including Peachtree, Andersen, Pella, Certainteed and Kolbe&Kolbe. The casement hardware, i.e. operators, hinges, slidetracks, keepers etc. are now available in stainless and corrosion resistant metals. SLIDING GLASS DOORS - There are hundreds of manufacturer's of sliding doors in various sizes and styles. We stock stainless steel rollers, aluminum housings with vinyl rollers and many types of locks. Each part works only on its particular brand and again our service technicians carry the most common ones on the trucks at all times. Roller Assemblies Cleaning the tracks, lubing the hardware or replacement is our specialty. We carry heavy duty stainless steel TRACKCOVERS which are screw applied over the old runners covering the divots and making new rollers run smoothly Stainless steel trackcover applied with stainless screws   We also stock all STANDARD SIZE PATIO DOOR GLASS in 3/16" tempered clear, gray and bronze as well as 5/8" insulated tempered door lites.
